The National Farmworker Ministry (NFWM) will present 3 short videos in honor of Farmworker Awareness Week 2010, which is officially March 28-April 3.
“Viva La Causa”: Tells the story of the origins of the contemporary farmworkers’ movement in the U.S. with the grape boycott. NFWM will have a petition on hand for audience members to sign to make Cesar Chavez's birthday a holiday.
"Children in the Fields": This short video shows some of the conditions faced by the children of farmworkers. NFWM will have a petition on hand for folks to sign to change labor laws that affect farm worker children.
The third video will be a 20 minute PBS special on the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, a community organization that fights for farmworkers’ human rights in Immokalee, FL.
